Digital – Analog Craft

A DIALOGUE BETWEEN DIGITAL AND ANALOG PRODUCTION OF CERAMICS

The “Digital – Analog Craft” project explores the intersection of traditional ceramics and modern technology. We designed and created functional ceramic objects by combining two production methods:

Slip Casting: Pour clay into molds to produce precise, repeatable forms with a handcrafted feel.

FDM 3D Printing: Build objects layer by layer, inspired by the traditional “macaroni” coil technique, allowing complex volumes.

Design Concept

The starting point is a basic container archetype (cylinder, sphere, cone) that functions as a module. Each module can be repeated, generating a variety of functional objects.

The module is designed to be produced with the same proportions using either slip casting or 3D printing, allowing pieces to “fit” together seamlessly and create flexible compositions.

Dialogue Between Techniques

By combining traditional and digital methods, we created objects that united heritage with innovation. The project highlights the expressive potential of ceramics and explores the relationship between analog and digital production.
